The farm has a mixture of 350 Black Face Ewes and Scotch
Mules which are grazed with the Beef Suckler herd split
between the farm's two bulls, an excellent Limousin
stock bull and a younger pedigree Simmental bull which
has enabled a small pedigree Simmental herd to
be established during 2010.
In addition to the sheep
and cattle, we rear pigs outdoors. The pigs are Large
White Landrace crosses sourced from Ian Stewart of Kilpatrick
Farm , Pinwhirry. The majority of the pigs are currently
bought by Jimmy Craig of Ballard Butchers, for his shop
in Castle Douglas.
Cullinaw is building an excellent
reputation for the supply of high quality meat to individuals
, catering businesses and restaurants in the West of Scotland,
who are increasingly wanting to know the provenance of the
meat they are buying. They are also wanting to know that
the animals have been well looked after and treated with
care and respect.
